Job Summary

The Tool & Die Maker / Prototype Technician is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining precision tools, dies, and prototype parts for manufacturing operations. This role ensures that tooling meets design specifications and production standards, supporting efficient and high-quality production.

Key Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain tools, dies, and prototypes according to engineering drawings and specifications.

Use precision machining equipment, such as mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines.

Perform modifications and repairs on existing tooling to improve functionality or correct defects.

Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop new prototypes and tooling solutions.

Measure and inspect components to ensure accuracy and adherence to tolerances.

Maintain accurate records of tooling, modifications, and maintenance activities.

Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.

Support continuous improvement initiatives in tooling and prototype processes.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a Tool & Die Maker or Prototype Technician in a manufacturing environment.

Strong mechanical aptitude and precision machining skills.

Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and machine shop equipment.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics.

Knowledge of metals, alloys, and heat-treating processes.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Physically capable of standing for long periods and handling heavy tools or components.
