Position Highlights : Schedule : Weekend shifts with variable weekday shift for FT employees Pay Range : $34.00 - $54.40 / hour (based on experience, skills, and internal equity) Weekend Differential : $7.00 or $11.00 / hour flat rate, depending on weekend commitment 5 out of 6 weekends : Eligible for an additional $7.00 / hour flat rate 11 out of 12 weekends : Eligible for an additional $11.00 / hour flat rate MDH Benefits package includes : Medical, Dental, Vision 457B and employer match for FT employees Company paid STD and LTD Job Summary Is an expert in the provision of professional nursing care at McDonough District Hospital. The Emergency Department RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the professional nursing care of the patient populations served within the Emergency Department. Provides, arranges, teaches and supervises nursing care within the department. Performs and carries out treatment, diagnostic and preventative procedures as ordered by the patient's physician. Performs other assignments as required. Job Specifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Currently licensed RN in the state of Illinois by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation. Required to have current CPR (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date), ACLS and PALS certification. If employee is a new hire and previously had ACLS or PALS, it will be required to have current certification within 90 days of hire date to be able to continue to work. If new hire has not had ACLS or PALS previously, it will be required to have current certification within 180 days from hire date to be able to continue to work. CPI certification required. JOB KNOWLEDGE : Comprehensive knowledge of current professional nursing practice and knowledge of the professional nurse as team leader required in this role. Knowledgeable regarding nursing standards of care, practices, and the use of policies, procedures and protocols in coordinating care. Knowledge of current infection control practices, including the use of PPE's, universal precautions, and MSDS requirements. Knowledge of emergency preparedness procedures. (Knowledge of specialty-specific patient populations will be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.) ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS : Ability to organize, manage, and function to provide professional nursing care based on scientific principles, basic behavioral concepts, and intelligent professional judgement. Ability to recognize the need for adjustment and flexibility in nursing care functions so as to maintain quality nursing care in all types of situations. Ability to exercise leadership coupled with tolerance and understanding as well as with appreciation and respect for the special abilities and skills of others. Ability to accept and constructively utilize supervision. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with individuals and families. Preferences for dealing with people, recognizing their needs and expressing concern for same. A commitment to strive for an improvement of nursing skills and greater competency within role. Capable of developing and maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues, physician, patients, families, and others, enlisting support and cooperation from same. Demonstrates commitment and exemplary loyalty to the hospital and the department. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery). The RN will successfully complete orientation and hospital-wide and department-specific CBL's (computerized based learning). The RN will participate in departmental inservices and will demonstrate competency by completing the service specific competency testing / evaluation process, as appropriate to the RN role. Continuing education programs will be offered to augment the RN's knowledge of pertinent developments in patient care and to foster a performance improvement environment.
