Department Information

The Student Engagement and Well-Being marketing & communications team centrally supports the Student Engagement & Well-Being cabinet area and reporting units with strategic communications, writing, editing, public relations, graphic design, social media, videography, website support, and advertising

Job Summary

Design and implement communications strategy and programs for a division of Georgia Tech. Serve as its representative within the Institute and with external entities regarding communications issues that impact campus-wide stakeholders. Serve as a member of the division leadership team and advise on strategic communications issues. This position will interact on a consistent basis with : unit management and staff, external and internal media contacts, alumni, other campus entities. This position typically will advise and counsel : division management / leadership, external and internal media contacts.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Design, implement and manage all communications-related activities for division to include development of strategic communications plan; liaison with internal and external media and other departments / units at GT.

Job Duty 2 -

Determine and manage the divisions marketing and communications strategy as it relates to the Institutes overall brand strategy.

Job Duty 3 -

Work closely with Institute Communications to engage, cultivate, and manage press and external relations to gain coverage of the divisions projects, programs, special events, and announcements.

Job Duty 4 -

Serve as the divisions liaison with Institute Communications for crisis communications and issues impacting campus-wide stakeholders.

Job Duty 5 -

Ensure tactical execution of communications in the division and ensure brand consistency and quality by reviewing and approving all division marketing and communications material and collateral. Administer divisions communications budget.

Job Duty 6 -

Create, maintain website(s) and other electronic / digital / social media to inform, promote and enhance the visibility and reputation of the division.

Job Duty 7 -

Create updates of public relations written materials, announcements, and other related communications documents.

Job Duty 8 -

Provide marketing, promotional and recruitment assistance to division management / leadership in articulating desired messages for targeted audiences. Attend workshops and events related to the division.

Job Duty 9 -

Perform and oversee division communications activities such as research, project planning and metrics, marketing analytics, branding, and related areas.

Job Duty 10 -

Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience

Six to seven years of job related experience

General marketing skills and cross-functional team leadership skills are preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Seeking candidates with a strong background in retail marketing, including experience developing retail marketing strategies, including point-of-sale marketing, merchandising, and customer engagement in a retail environment.
  • Proven experience leading integrated communications and marketing strategies across complex organizations with multiple departments or divisions.
  • Demonstrated success in brand strategy development and implementation at the organizational level, including brand architecture, positioning, and messaging frameworks.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience guiding cross-functional teams and aligning diverse stakeholders around a unified communications vision.
  • Experience with data-driven decision-making, including the use of analytics to measure campaign effectiveness and inform strategy.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Proficiency in crisis communication and reputation management, with a track record of navigating high-stakes scenarios.
  • Familiarity with digital marketing ecosystems, including content strategy, SEO / SEM, social media, and marketing automation platforms.
  • Experience working in a matrixed or decentralized organization, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    SKILLS

    This job requires skills in writing, editing and copywriting, as well as project and functional management. Working knowledge of production processes related to printed and electronic media is required as is use of office and specialized computer applications.
