We are seeking a well-rounded, detail-oriented staff accountant with a background in banking, multistate tax filings, and payroll processing experience to join our team. This candidate will manage day-to-day accounting functions, handle bi-weekly payroll processing, and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. The ideal candidate should be able to take initiative and make informed decisions, have a solid understanding of GAAP, experience with payroll systems, and able to manage priorities independently.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Duties
Prepare and maintain general ledger entries, reconciliations, and month-end closing activities.
Daily monitoring of banking transactions with monthly reconciliation, weekly processing of ACH/Wire payments to domestic & international vendors, and monthly/quarterly commission payouts.
Monthly/quarterly tax filings/payments to multistate and international entities.
Assist in preparing financial statements and supporting schedules for management and auditors.
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
Support AP & AR functions as needed.
Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and applicable regulations.
Payroll Responsibilities
Process multi-state bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried employees using Paylocity.
Maintain payroll records, including timesheets, PTO, benefits deductions, and wage adjustments.
Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare payroll journal entries for posting.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations (tax filings, wage garnishments, etc.).
Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Systems & Reporting
Utilize ERP for accounting workflows, journal entries, and reporting.
Generate and analyze financial and payroll reports to support management decisions.
Assist with system updates, integrations, and process improvements.
