Registered Nurse - PCU

Job Details : \n

  • Work in a stepdown unit with high patient ratios of 1 : 4-5

    • \n

  • Treat mixed MS / Tele and Intermediate patients including neuro, respiratory, cardiac, and mixed medical cases

    • \n

  • Assignments may be all PCU, all MS / Tele, or a mix depending on patient acuity and staffing needs

    • \n

  • Titrate cardiac drips and manage telemetry monitoring

    • \n

  • Work every other weekend with floating required within facility

    • \n

  • Maximum 7 days requested time off allowed

    • \n

  • Holiday work required based on assignment period - work 1 holiday if 1-2 fall during assignment, work 2 holidays if 3 fall during assignment

    • \n

  • No call requirements or block scheduling

    • \n

  • Patient population ranges from adolescents to geriatrics

    • \n

  • Required certifications : BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale

    • \n

  • Minimum 1 year experience required - first-time travelers accepted

    • \n

  • Must wear navy blue scrubs

    • \n

  • Use Epic charting system, Pyxis, and SBAR communication

    • \n

  • Full compliance required to start on time with 2-week pushback if not compliant

    • \n

  • Skills include blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care, chest tube management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula, dysrhythmia management, and tracheostomy care

    This healthcare organization operates a 36-bed Progressive Care Unit that serves as a stepdown facility for patients requiring intermediate care. The unit maintains high patient ratios and specializes in caring for a mixed population of medical / surgical and stroke patients. The facility provides comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, radiology, rapid response teams, and transportation services. The organization emphasizes quality patient care and uses modern technology systems to support clinical operations.
