Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Correctional Discipline : RN Start Date : 09 / 23 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, days, nights, rotating Employment Type : Travel Job Description : Registered Nurse (RN) Client : CoreCivic of Tennessee, LLC Location : Milan, New Mexico, 87021 Contract Duration : 13 weeks Shift : (12 x 3)Hours per Week : 36 Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care, including but not limited to executing Licensed Independent Provider’s orders, dispensing and administering medications, and assisting in patient examinations and treatments. The RN applies nursing and supervisory techniques in the care, treatment, and referral of inmates / residents. This role requires performing all clinical procedures within the scope of education and licensure, attending sick calls, managing medication distribution, and coordinating emergency and routine care as needed. Key Responsibilities Execute medical orders from Licensed Independent Providers and dispense medication according to policy. Assist in patient examinations and treatments, attending sick calls with physicians. Assess new and current inmates / residents for illness or injury; refer to emergency or specialized care when necessary. Monitor inmate / resident inpatient hospitalizations and coordinate early releases when appropriate. Supervise licensed vocational / practical nursing staff and non-licensed medical staff. Maintain collaborative working relationships with facility staff, contract providers, and outside agencies. Follow corporate, facility, and correctional policies while exercising independent judgment. Evaluate medical services to prevent misuse or duplication of care. Ensure confidentiality and security of medical records. Assist in reviewing medical files for documentation accuracy. Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses and audit pharmacy use for formulary adherence. Comply with pharmacy laws, particularly regarding controlled substances. Observe and document inmate / resident behavior and inspect the medical unit for contraband risks. Provide health counseling and education individually or in groups. Prepare and maintain various reports, records, and logs accurately and timely. Interpret medical and technical procedures and legal documents. Assist with lawsuits and attend court hearings as required. Support accreditation efforts (NCCHC, ACA, JCAHO) by maintaining service quality. Prepare safety and accident reports, responding appropriately to incidents and emergencies. Required Qualifications Graduate from an accredited nursing program with a degree or diploma in nursing. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of employment. Valid driver's license. Preferred : One (1) year of professional nursing experience.
