  • Clinical Nurse is a Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and significant others.
  • Delivers patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.
  • Assesses and evaluates patient care needs applying critical thinking skills.
  • Integrates relevant assessment and intervention skills in nursing care delivery.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team in plan of care development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, planning after hospital care, and delegating appropriately.
  • Educates patients and caregivers about plan of care, transition of care, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family, and healthcare team.
  • Manages assignments within Modified Primary Nursing Care Delivery Model and allocates material resources effectively.
  • Role models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through various patient care actions such as Admission Welcome, Bedside shift Report, HELP AM / PM Care, Purposeful Hourly Rounding, Medication Review, Discharge Wrap Up, and MD / RN Unit Collaboration.
  • Considers patient's values, preferences, cultural diversity, expressed needs, and knowledge in care.
  • Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Uses evidence-based practices to understand patients' perceptions of care.
  • Initiates service recovery for patient and family concerns and escalates as needed.
  • Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.
  • Supports staff use of evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions.
  • Conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing the 4 Ps.
  • Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying and escalating barriers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in patient population served.
  • Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional and evidence-based procedures.
  • Engages in peer and institutional review processes.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research studies.
  • Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.
  • Implements principles of high reliability to avoid high risk behaviors and provide a safe environment.
  • Escalates potential safety hazards or gaps following institutional chain of command.
  • Utilizes institutional information technology for nursing documentation supporting quality and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Job Requirements

  • Registered Professional Nurse (RN) licensure required.
  • Oncology nursing experience preferred due to specialty in Cancer Center.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
