Job Summary :
The Endoscopy Technician II has an in-depth knowledge of GI and assists the nurses and physicians in providing care for the endoscopy patient. They have completed competencies for all basic GI procedures and are competent in all aspects of scope reprocessing. The Technician also supports the area with duties that include, but are not limited to preparation of the procedure room and sterile field to ensure a safe patient care environment including gathering all required instruments and supplies and serving as an endoscopy procedure assistant. The job also includes transportation of patients and equipment, stocking / maintaining supplies, care and maintenance of endoscopes and their accessories contributing to the daily functions of the unit. Exhibits a higher level of Collaboration with all members of the Wellstar health care team. Has a strong understand of infection control in the GI setting. Assists with maintaining supplies and equipment under the direction of a manager / supervisor. If being promoted, must receive a 3 or higher on last performance review.

Must enroll and attend at least one leadership development class per year. Required
Required Minimum Skills :
Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
BCLS required.
Ability to collaborate with other health care providers in the provision of patient care.
Competency in all aspects of GI procedures, patient positioning, exposure factors and radiation protection.
Ability to delegate to other team members as required.
Ability to multi-task is essential : Ability to function in stressful and emergent situations essential.
Strong detail orientation required.
Proficiency in all GI procedures required, with emphasis on EUS and ERCP cases.
Ability to function as preceptor to other GI techs required.
Computer skills may be required.
Emergency call coverage requirements specific to facility of employment.
