Family First Health is seeking a Medical Assistant for a Full-Time position in our Lewisberry location.

Medical Assistant Job Summary
The Medical Assistant will act under the supervision of a physician, registered nurse practitioner, and / or physician-assistant to provide direct patient care in an ambulatory care setting. Required to provide direct patient care that may include medical procedures, medication administration, and medical treatments. Job functions also include proper documentation into the Electronic Health Record, administrative support, and patient / family instruction as directed by the medical provider. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members in the patient-centered medical home model of care and actively participates in learning and growing in the medical team to offer trustworthy medical services with exceptional clinical quality outcomes. Provides safe and efficient care and services to patients, following Family First Health policies, procedures, and protocols.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accurately obtains and documents chief complaint for patient visit, all vital signs, medication requests, allergies, etc.Prepares exam room and patient for specific type of visitCollects specimens and uses appropriate equipment and protocols for specimen collection, processing, handling, and storage. Ensures all specimens are tracked / logged prior to transportation to lab.Performs all orders / instructions as recorded and instructed by the provider / standing orderClearly and accurately documents all aspects of patient care in the electronic health recordAccurately prepares and administers medications, injections, and immunizations as per standing order and / or provider order. Demonstrates proper handling, storage, and record-keeping of vaccines.Provides patient educational materials and ensures patient understanding of illness and / or treatment plan as directed by the provider.Completes pre-visit chart prep for each patient daily as according to established guidelines. Participates in daily huddles with the provider and multidisciplinary care team.Efficiently manages daily patient flow to handle fluctuating patient volumes, demands, and delays.Prioritizes tasks and activities that are delegated by the provider and care team, including, but not limited to, inbox management in the electronic health recordCompletes referral needs for patients, including scheduling and arranging appointments and prior authorizationReviews labs, x-rays, test results, and clinical documents and follows up with provider on urgent resultsEffectively presents clinical information to the care teamMaintains proper medical supply inventory in all patient care areas. Ensures exam rooms are adequately stocked with unexpired medical supplies and have equipment in proper working conditionProperly handles, stores, and cleans instruments, equipment, and supplies per manufacturer guidelinesPerforms all lab and office opening / closing procedures, including end-of-day cash drawer reconciliationMaintains required clinical competencies, clearances, and licensureGreets and registers patients collecting accurate demographic and insurance information and documenting accurately in the electronic health recordAssists patients with applying for the reduced fee program in accordance with established policies and proceduresAnswers telephones, routes callers, takes messages, and provides information to callersCollects patient payments at time of service and accurately processes payments. Researches and resolves billing and insurance-related questions for patientsSchedules appointments for patients in the electronic health recordMaintains a working knowledge of health insurances and payer typesAccurately processes and classifies documents in the electronic health recordPerforms all other duties as assignedCommon Expectations Medical Operations

Successful completion of a Medical Assistant program.Current CPR certificationNarcan training required upon hireMust have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminologyEnglish proficiency required. Bilingual (English / Spanish) preferred.Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
