Position Overview
SRG is seeking a Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologist to provide on site outpatient care at the Rochester VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), part of the Finger Lakes Health Care System (VISN 2).
The Gastroenterologist will provide consultative and ongoing care to Veteran patients in an outpatient setting, working as part of an interdisciplinary VA care team and using VA electronic health record systems.
This role is clinic based only, with a stable weekday schedule and no on call requirement.

Position Responsibilities :
- Provide outpatient gastroenterology consultative services and follow up care for adult Veteran patients.
- Evaluate, diagnose, and manage a broad range of gastrointestinal conditions consistent with accepted standards of care and granted privileges.
- Review and interpret appropriate diagnostic studies, coordinate additional testing as needed, and collaborate with referring providers.
- Document all patient encounters, orders, and communications in the VA electronic health record in accordance with VA policies and timeliness standards.
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination with primary care, specialty services, nursing, and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and access to care.
- Maintain compliance with all VA clinical, credentialing, privacy, and safety policies, including required trainings and quality initiatives.
- Participate in peer review, performance improvement, and other quality or utilization management activities as requested by VA leadership.
- Specific procedural scope will be aligned with clinic capabilities and granted privileges during the credentialing process.
Required Qualifications :
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO).Completed ACGME accredited residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Gastroenterology.Unrestricted, active license to practice medicine in any U.S. State, Territory, or Commonwealth.Board Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology (ABIM).Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.Eligible for VA credentialing and privileging through VetPro and Medical Executive Board.Ability to meet VA Employee Health requirements, including documentation of immunizations and screenings such as TB, MMR, Varicella, Hep B, Tdap, Influenza, and OSHA bloodborne pathogen training.Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable background investigation in accordance with VA and federal requirements.Proof of current professional liability insurance with acceptable coverage limits at time of hire.Preferred Qualifications :
Prior clinical experience within the Department of Veterans Affairs or other federal health system.Experience working in a multidisciplinary outpatient setting.Familiarity with VA electronic health records and VA clinical workflows.
