The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities, Fairbanks International Airport, is looking for a Mechanic Automotive Advanced Journey / Lead to help us Keep Alaska Moving!
What you will be doing :
In this role, you will be responsible for performing skilled troubleshooting, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of gasoline- and diesel- powered airport equipment. You will diagnose and resolve performance problems with engines, ignition, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, drivetrain, and steering systems using both traditional mechanical methods and computer-based diagnostic tools. Work will include preventative maintenance, major and minor repairs, complete rebuilds, and fabrication or welding as needed to return equipment to safe and reliable operation. You will also perform machine shop work, roadside and remote service calls, daily inspections, and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities. This position requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to work independently in varied and sometimes extreme conditions, and the skill to ensure all equipment remains in peak working order to support airport operations.

A Class A Alaska Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at time of hire. A conditional hire approval can only be given for endorsements. This means that the proposed appointee must successfully obtain N-Tanker endorsement within 90 days of hire and sign an agreement to this effect as a condition of employment.
