Business Development Officer
The Business Development Officer (BDO) is responsible for driving the growth of the credit union's portfolio of business members. This position focuses on acquiring new business members, deepening relationships with existing members, and identifying the financial needs of small and mid-sized businesses. BDOs will also partner with local branch leadership to bring the value of our consumer accounts full circle. The Officer delivers tailored banking solutions, including deposit and lending products, cash management, and merchant services.
Essential Job Functions
- New Member Acquisition
- Lead strategic outreach to source new business members through networking, referrals, and local market engagement.
- Create and execute plans to expand the credit union's presence within the business community.
- Works in tandem with Community Engagement and other credit union partners when necessary to originate products and services for business and consumer leads.
- Relationship Management & Business Development
- Track and manage all business development activities using CRM tools; maintain updated business development plans and reports.
- Assess and enhances the success of business development strategies, recommending improvements as needed.
- Build and nurture relationships with partners and influencers to generate high-quality leads.
- Utilizes a consultative approach to their sales and service execution, ensuring that we are matching needs to solutions.
- Subject matter expert within the credit union's business and consumer product suite.
- Strategic Initiatives & Portfolio Growth
- Contribute to the design and implementation of business development strategies aimed at member acquisition and partnership expansion.
- Collaborate with branch managers to shape local business opportunities, pursue warm leads, and represent the credit union at business events.
- Analyze and understand business members' operating models, financial cycles, and cash flow requirements.
- Recommend customized solutions, including deposit, lending, line of credit, cash management, and merchant services.
- Member & Community Engagement
- Develop and deliver engaging presentations highlighting credit union membership benefits and financial wellness offerings.
- Engage in community events and initiatives to identify opportunities for new products.
