Job Summary :
This position is part of the PARCS department within the Community Services division and is dedicated to enhancing the lives of older adults in our community by providing tailored programming and activities. Under general supervision, the Recreation Program Leader is responsible for planning, organizing, and leading a diverse array of recreational and educational activities at various community hubs like parks, community centers, and other specialized program centers. Program activities encompass areas like promotion of health and wellness, arts and crafts, sports, music, drama, and education. Additionally, this position also requires commitment and participation in special events.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
Assist in the development, promotion and implementation of senior programs, activities, and special events designed to enhance socialization, wellness, and lifelong learning for older adults.Assist in, overseeing and leading the activities of staff and volunteers; may plan, assign, train, direct, and monitor staff duties during senior programs and events.Support the scheduling, set-up, operation, and daily maintenance of senior program areas and activities.Adhere to and enforces safety procedures and facility regulations; ensures a safe and welcoming environment for program participants.Register participants for senior activities using computer software; assist with participant check-in and program tracking.Provide basic first aid and emergency response as needed; monitor participant well-being and promptly reports any health or safety concerns.Prepare program materials and resources such as bingo cards, fitness equipment, or social activity supplies; encourage active engagement and participation among seniors.Assist with senior nutrition needs during programs as appropriate (snack / lunch distribution, hydration, or coordination with meals).Open, secure, and clean program areas before and after senior program use; maintain the cleanliness and readiness of facilities.Participate in and / or lead staff meetings, volunteer orientations, and family / community conferences related to senior services.Maintain accurate records, including attendance, incident reports, participant observations, and program evaluations.Assist in training and coaching Recreation Program Leaders and volunteers assigned to senior programs; collaborate with the coordinator to evaluate staff performance.Plan for and maintain necessary program supplies and equipment; monitors inventory and initiates purchase requests for senior activity resources.Build positive relationships with participants, families, and community partners to strengthen senior program participation and outreach.Perform other duties as assigned in support of senior services and community enrichment.The duties listed above are not intended to be all-inclusive.
