Research Associate - Neurology - Stroke (BRAINS Lab / Manwani Lab)
Location : 6431 Fannin Street, Houston, Texas 77030
The BRAINS (Brain, Rejuvenation, Aging, Inflammation, Neurodegeneration, and Stroke) Research Laboratory at UTHealth Houston is seeking a Research Associate with interest in Stroke, Vascular Dementia, and Neurocardiology. Qualified candidates should have a strong background in neurology and behavioral sciences, excellent organization and communication skills, and a strong work ethic. Experience in small animal cognitive behavior testing, mouse handling, minor surgeries (e.g., subcutaneous implants), flow cytometry, and ELISA is highly desirable.
Notes : This role is based in Houston, TX. The position is full-time and follows UTHealth Houston policies and benefits.
Responsibilities
- Plans, conducts, and directs a wide variety of experiments.
- Assist with day-to-day activities for research projects and contribute to their success.
- Collects, evaluates, interprets, and documents research data to accomplish objectives.
- Influences project direction by identifying opportunities to enhance, terminate, or re-direct activities.
- Possibly recruit study participants or field interviewers.
- Evaluate data and provide results to investigators to support publication.
- Maintain quality control checks and a safe environment in compliance with policies and regulations.
- Assist in preparation and writing of reports, manuscripts, papers, and grant proposals.
- Provide direction and training to lab personnel to ensure efficient, timely, and high-quality results.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : Bachelor's degree in a related field with three (3) years of related research experience including lead roles; or Master's degree with one (1) year of related research experience including lead roles; or Doctorate degree.Experience : Varies based on education level; prior lead research experience is preferred.Certification / Skills : Considerable knowledge in basic and advanced equipment.Physical & Security
Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and / or up to 10 pounds frequently; may involve hazardous chemical, biological, or radioactive agents.Security Sensitive : Position may be security sensitive under Texas Education Code 51.215.Residency
