Shipping Clerk
Overview & Responsibilities
Job Duties
- Types and maintains various shipping documents and files as required.
- Extracts data from provided information and types necessary paperwork for all Elliott shipments including Bills of Lading, Air Bills, Canadian Customs invoices and export documents for Canadian shipments, international Bills of Lading for Service Orders and FSOs and PTs for all foreign shipments, etc. where applicable.
- Prepares and types Daily Shipping Records and distributes as required.
- Contracts Trucking and airline firms for information on shipments.
- Traces shipments and provides this information to customers and others as directed by supervision.
- Works with other departments where necessary to process shipping paperwork.
- Maintains various files and logs in the Shipping Department as required.
- Types specification nameplates.
- Orders and maintains supplies for department as required.
- Performs typing, filing and other general clerical work as required by the department.
- Tracks costs of shop orders by inputting information into personal computer.
- Matches Freight Bills with Bills of Lading. The above duties reflect the general details considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job and shall not be construed as a detailed description of all of the work requirements that may be inherent in the job.
Qualifications
Associates Degree preferred3+ years' overall experience in clerical / administrative roleProficiency in Microsoft Word and ExcelExperience with an ERP / MRP system (Oracle, SAP, etc.) strongly preferredPrior experience in shipping receiving / logistics / trucking preferredMust be reliable / dependableMust be detail-orientedEqual Employment Opportunity
