Program Summary :

The Drop-In Center Case Manager collaborates with other Drop-In Center and Outreach staff to serve as the entry point into SBY residential programs and other housing opportunities within the DC continuum of youth service care. The Case Manager, in conjunction with program management, assists with the daily operation of a Youth Drop-In Center for homeless and unstably housed youth and provides them with an initial assessment in order to link them to appropriate services. The Case Manager maintains an active caseload, develops Harm Reduction and / or Individualized Case Plans, and monitors client progress towards their goals. The Case Manager also collaborates with other staff to provide life skills trainings and other socio-cultural activities in an effort to support their successful transition to self-sufficiency.

The intent and purpose of the Drop In Center is to provide a safe environment for homeless and at-risk youth to meet their basic human needs; access one-on-one counseling and case management to begin to stabilize their lives; connect with housing, employment and educational resources; and increase their support network - all within a trauma-informed environment that provides a consistent atmosphere of acceptance and hope. It serves all youth up to age 24 with no other eligibility requirements or time limits on how frequently they can utilize services. The Youth Drop In Center is open for services Monday - Friday from 8 am to 6 pm with weekend programming scheduled periodically. The Center provides the following services :

• Meals and snacks
• Access to laundry facilities
• Access to showers and hygiene products
• Access to clothing
• Access to telephone, the ability to receive telephone messages and mail service
• Identification services (Birth Certificates, Social Security Cards, and etc.)
• Access to a computer lab for Internet services; also be utilized for educational and employment search assistance
