Job description

Senior Operations Manager – Non-Asset Trucking Division

We are an asset based 3PL with executive offices in Houston, Texas and branch offices in several coastal states and Canada and Mexico.

Are you ready to build something big?

This is a start-up operation with a skeleton crew in place. We’re looking for an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead and scale the fast-growing non-asset division of our company that is based in Houston. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in the middle of the action—building carrier networks, optimizing performance, and driving measurable results.

The right person will bring a strong carrier and vendor contact base, a deep understanding of the U.S. domestic transportation market to include cross border operations, and a proven track record of leading high-performing operations teams.

What You’ll Do

Operational Leadership

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day performance of the non-asset trucking division.
  • Build, coach, and grow a capable operations team that supports rapid revenue expansion.
  • Define and track KPIs to drive accountability, efficiency, and profitability.

Carrier & Vendor Relations

  • Develop and maintain nationwide carrier partnerships.
  • Leverage your network to secure capacity and negotiate competitive rates.
  • Oversee carrier contracts, compliance, and service-level standards.
  • Sales Support & Growth

  • Collaborate closely with sales to ensure operational readiness for new business.
  • Provide fast, accurate quoting and capacity solutions.
  • Maintain a customer-first focus—ensuring excellence after the sale to boost retention.
  • Strategic Development

  • Contribute to scaling non-asset revenue toward a $20M+ growth target.
  • Identify cross-border opportunities in Mexico and Canada.
  • Work with executive leadership to shape long-term operational strategy.
  • Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure full compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and safety standards.
  • Maintain and enforce risk management policies and procedures.
  • What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in U.S. trucking operations (non-asset preferred).
  • Demonstrated success building and managing carrier / vendor networks nationwide.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of scaling high-growth operations.
  • Deep knowledge of domestic transportation—FTL, LTL, drayage, project cargo.
  • Proficiency in TMS and CRM systems (Salesforce a plus).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field—or equivalent experience.
  • Who You Are

  • Highly connected and resourceful—someone who can “pick up the phone” and find capacity fast.
  • A hands-on leader who motivates teams and holds them accountable.
  • Strategic thinker with strong commercial instincts.
  • Quick, decisive, and adaptable in a dynamic logistics environment.
  • Why Join Us

  • Competitive base salary + quarterly performance bonuses.
  • Full health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Career advancement opportunities in a growing logistics group.
  • LOCATION : Houston, TX

SALARY : $90K–$115K base + quarterly GP bonus

Ready to lead, build, and grow? Join a company that’s investing in people, process, and technology to take non-asset trucking operations to the next level.
