Description Of Job
Fort Lewis College's Structural Maintenance work unit provides services to support teaching and learning. The incumbent will report to a Structural Maintenance Supervisor (Structural Trades III) and work with Structural Trades II staff. This essential services position ensures construction, maintenance and modifications comply with specifications, plans, codes, and Fort Lewis College standards, while following safety practices.
Responsibilities
- Basic Structural Repairs (40%) : perform basic maintenance under supervision, repair campus facilities / fixtures, secure damaged glass and windows, repair / replace doors, hardware, and related components; repair furniture and blinds; patch and finish drywall; replace fire extinguishers; design and fabricate repair parts; weld as needed; assist with roof repairs and emergency fixes; complete or assist in other structural system repairs as directed.
- Painting (40%) : perform skilled interior and exterior painting, including surface preparation, priming, finishing, scaffolding, masking, and protecting adjacent areas; assist in paint maintenance program and supervising summer staff where applicable.
- Physical Plant Services & Campus Support (10%) : perform other duties including snow removal, cleaning, moving, event set-ups, and assisting PPS shops as needed.
- Work Scheduling and Data Entry (5%) : use TMA Work Order System for all work requests, prioritize and assign unassigned orders, track labor and materials, close completed orders, and maintain up-to-date entries.
- Training & Professional Development (5%) : complete required training, review employee handbooks and policies, and participate in meetings and professional development aligned with institutional goals.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience : Two (2) years of structural trades experience in an industrial, institutional or commercial setting related to the work.OR Education And Experience : A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship, and / or relevant experience equal to two (2) years.Residency : Residents and non-residents of Colorado may apply; work location within 30 miles of state border.Preferred Qualifications
