Description : Job Purpose
The LEX Behavior Technician provides clinical and educational programming to students with autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders within a classroom of up to eight to twelve students using the principles of applied behavior analysis.
Duties and Responsibilities
Preparation / Materials
- Assists in creating materials as instructed by Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Special Education Teacher
- Ensures that materials are well organized, complete, and replaced as needed
- Alerts BCBA or Special Education Teacher if materials may need to be ordered prior to running out
Teaching
Runs instructional sessions independentlyRuns educational programs accuratelyPerforms error correction procedure accuratelyTakes advantage of natural teaching opportunitiesImplements behavior support plans accuratelyManages other challenging behaviors effectivelyImplements additional protocols accurately (e.g., medicine, diet, toileting)Supervises higher ratios of learners during lunch or other non-instructional periodsProvides instruction in 1 : 1, 1 : 2, or small group arrangementsCommunication
Maintains home / school contact (e.g., daily communication logs)Participates in classroom, team, and all staff meetings as requestedCoordinates and collaborates with learner’s related service personnel as applicableCommunicates with supervisors about problem programs and behaviorMaintains weekly schedule and communicates availability to supervisor as requiredData Collection and Analysis

This is a full-time position. This position involves working with students who exhibit challenging and / or aggressive behavior and participation in community outings.
Requirements : Qualifications
Valid driver’s license requiredHigh school diploma or equivalency requiredBachelor’s degree preferredExperience in the application of applied behavior analysis (ABA) in the education of students with autism is preferred
