Champion Communication in the Enchanting Southwest - Become a Speech Language Pathology Specialist with Us

Overview

Imagine a career where your expertise in communication unlocks the voices within individuals of all ages. As a Speech Language Pathology Specialist in the vibrant city of Albuquerque, New Mexico, your impact will weave through the lives of patients, helping them overcome communication and swallowing challenges. This journey will not only foster their confidence but also build meaningful connections- from young children forming their first sentences to seniors rediscovering their independence.

This unique position offers the chance to work with a diverse patient demographic in an environment that seamlessly integrates outpatient therapy with occasional inpatient services. Whether you prefer the excitement of childhood speech development, the challenge of neurogenic disorders in adults, or the rewarding work in geriatric cognitive rehabilitation, you will thrive in an atmosphere that values both your skills and your passion.

Description

  • Conduct thorough evaluations for pediatric, adult, and geriatric patient demographics using both standardized tests and observational methods.
  • Create tailored treatment plans that address immediate needs while paving the way for improved long-term communication, cognitive, and swallowing capabilities.
  • Deliver personalized speech therapy sessions concentrating on various areas including language, fluency, voice, and swallowing.
  • Work in collaboration with a team of physical therapists, occupational therapy professionals, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and family members to develop integrated care strategies.
  • Provide educational resources to patients and their families, assisting them in continuing progress outside of therapy sessions.
  • Assist with occasional evaluations and therapy for inpatient cases, ensuring seamless continuity of care throughout their recovery process.
  • Maintain comprehensive and timely documentation compliant with all applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Participate in professional development activities to stay updated on the latest speech-language pathology advancements.

Education

  • A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a nationally accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) if you are not yet ASHA-certified.
  • Certifications

  • Valid state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist .
  • Preferably, hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic techniques across all age groups, with a comprehensive understanding of both developmental and acquired communication and swallowing disorders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, their families, and a multidisciplinary team.
  • The ability to modify therapy methodologies to respect cultural and linguistic diversity.
  • Keen clinical judgment coupled with solid problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records and documentation protocols.
  • Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and expertise.
  • Flexible scheduling options promoting a healthy work-life balance and diverse patient cases.
  • Opportunity to pursue specialized training in areas including pediatrics, adult neuro rehabilitation, or geriatric care.
  • Generous paid time off (PTO) and holiday remuneration.
  • Comprehensive insurance options covering health, dental, vision, and life.
  • Funding for continuing education and initiatives to support your professional growth.
  • Join a collaborative team dedicated to outstanding care and continuous learning.
  • A Journey That Transforms You and Others

In this role, you will do much more than perform clinical tasks; you will become part of a community-focused mission dedicated to reviving communication, fostering connection, and creating moments of joy through the simplest acts of human interaction : listening and understanding.

Collaborate with passionate colleagues who view one another as essential parts of a family, and engage in an environment where teamwork and shared ambition take precedence over competition. Each patient comes with a unique story, and we trust you to help navigate how it unfolds.

The creative pulse of the city resonates in the vibrant murals, lively music venues, and community festivities that celebrate diversity and inclusive gatherings. The opportunities here extend beyond lifestyle - with no state income tax, an affordable cost of living, and an expanding healthcare landscape, Albuquerque is a fertile ground for your professional aspirations.
