Responsibilities
Nurse Practitioner Responsibilities
Responsible for providing appropriate care for acute and chronic neurologic disease and disorders of the nervous system and conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, and peripheral nervous system. The Neurology NP works both in‑patient hospital care and out‑patient clinic care. They are expected to have competencies in behavioral neurology, multiple sclerosis, child neurology, epilepsy, movement disorders, and neuroscience.
Physician Assistant Responsibilities

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications
Minimum Education
- Masters in Nursing (required) with neurology specialty training preferred.
- Post‑Masters Certificate – Nurse Practitioner preferred.
Minimum Experience
1 year of experience in neurology‑care settings required.Required Certification / Registration
NYS Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner license with prescriptive privileges required.DEA required.BLS certification preferred; ACLS certification required.ANCC Board Certification, Advanced Practice required.Current Opioid Prescriber Training Certificate required.Current Infectious Disease Certificate required.Physical Requirements
Travel to multiple facilities is required.Working Conditions
Environmental Demands : Works primarily inside and may occasionally work outdoors; may be exposed to odors, chemical agents, dust, fumes, gases, sharp objects, hazardous equipment, wet floors, and extremes in temperature and humidity.Physical Demands : Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, push over 75 lbs; demonstrate full range of motion; sustained sitting, standing, walking.Mental Demands : Ability to foster collaborative relationships, work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, multitask; ability to work during irregular hours including evenings and weekends.Physician Assistant Qualifications
Minimum Education
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.Minimum Experience
1 year of experience in emergency room or neurologic‑care settings preferred.Required Certification / Registration
