Description : About Gathering Kids

Gathering Kids Afterschool Mentorship Program LLC partners with local school districts to provide students with a safe, engaging, and enriching afterschool experience. Our mission is to inspire youth through mentorship, creativity, and hands-on learning that promotes character development, teamwork, and personal growth.

Position Summary

The Afterschool Program Instructor plays a key role in leading small-group activities that encourage curiosity, confidence, and creativity. This position blends mentorship, STEM exploration, art projects, public speaking, and career-readiness activities to help students develop essential life and learning skills in a positive, structured environment.

Requirements :

Key Responsibilities :

Student Safety & Supervision

Supervise students at all times to ensure a safe, supportive environment.
Follow all Gathering Kids safety procedures, emergency protocols, and communication policies.
Maintain organized, clean, and hazard-free workspaces.
Report behavior or safety concerns promptly to the Program Manager.

Instruction & Engagement

Lead engaging activities that build skills in STEM, art, public speaking, leadership, and teamwork.

Encourage exploration and problem-solving through project-based learning.

Adapt instruction to accommodate different learning styles and grade levels (K–6).

Reinforce positive behavior and student participation through consistent classroom management.

Mentorship & Student Development

Model respect, responsibility, and enthusiasm in every interaction.

Encourage students to express ideas confidently and collaborate with peers.

Help students make connections between learning and future career or life skills.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with site leads and fellow instructors to ensure program flow and consistency.

Communicate effectively using Brightwheel, radios, and other approved tools.

Assist with setup, cleanup, and transitions between activities.

Program Alignment & Professionalism

Follow all organizational guidelines, daily schedules, and behavioral expectations.

Attend required training sessions and review daily updates from site leadership.

Represent Gathering Kids with professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications

Experience working with children in education, youth mentorship, or enrichment settings.

Strong classroom and behavior-management skills.

Passion for teaching, creativity, and student growth.

Ability to follow structured lesson plans and organizational guidelines.

Must pass fingerprinting and background check.
