At MKBC, we save lives every day by providing blood products to hospitals in PA and NJ. The Full-time Blood Component Laboratory Technician position supports the Blood Center by manufacturing a safe supply of blood and blood components to be used in our community hospitals. The anticipated hourly wage starts at $17.00 / hr and is commensurate with experience. In addition, Miller-Keystone offers the following to all full-time employees :

What you will be doing :

• Performs tasks including but not limited to manufacturing, quality control, and handling and managing inventory of blood products.
• Conducts Moderate Complexity testing in compliance with CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments) requirements for bacterial sampling. This includes specimen processing, test performance, and accurate reporting of test results.
• Maintains laboratory records, quality control policies, and follows established policies and procedures.
• Identifies errors in the manufacturing of blood products that may adversely affect product quality, safety, or purity and apply corrective actions as necessary.
• Reviews testing records for accuracy and completion.
• Communicates clearly with internal department and externally with other departments and stakeholders.

This position reports directly to the Component Laboratory Manager at our Bethlehem location. To best meet the needs of the team and department, this position requires scheduling flexibility but works the core hours of a second shift including :

M-Th 3p-11p, Friday 12-8 with rotating weekends and holidays

Additionally, this position requires the ability to lift 30 pounds, stand for long periods of time, and perform small and concise movements.

The Component Laboratory Technician works with blood products on a daily basis, exposure to potential biohazardous substances is high.
