Shift Description
24-hour call (7 AM 7 AM)
Includes 8 hours of rounding
Average in-house time : 5 6 hours / day of clinical care
Optional additional time for teaching students and residents
Call Details
15-minute response time for emergencies
Minimal callback : Avg. 8.44 weekdays, 6.49 weekends
ED consults / admissions have flexible turnaround
Requirements
Oregon state license
DEA
PALS, BLS, ACLS, NRP
Board Certified Pediatrician Highly Preferred; Board Eligible Required
Clean malpractice background Highly Preferred
Local candidates Highly Preferred
Setting
Inpatient Level II nursery, Level I nursery, ED, Family Birth Center
18-bed ward; primary work in Level II nursery
6-bed pediatric unit (average census : 2 patients / day)
Average 4 6 newborns / day;
Duties
Attending physician for inpatient pediatrics and ED consults
Rounding on inpatient peds and newborns
Stabilize and transfer critical patients
Required Procedures
Lumbar puncture
Intubations
Umbilical line placement
Neonatal resuscitation
Additional Details
Must have 2 in past 24 months : endotracheal intubations / vent mgmt., newborn care, spinal tap, umbilical line placement
No circumcisions performed
Not required to attend all deliveries; only high-risk ( 1 2 / month)
Neonatology support available
EMR : Patient Keeper (interfaces with Meditech)
