EPC Project Manager I
Contract Duration : Contract through December 30, 2026 (with strong possibility of extension)
Location : Jackson, MI 49201
Work Schedule : Hybrid (On-site : Monday, Tuesday, Thursday | Remote : Wednesday, Friday)
Job Summary :
The EPC Project Manager I reports directly to the Director of Clean Energy Project Development and primarily supports the Natural Gas Development Manager, as well as other Development Managers as needed. This role requires ethical leadership in alignment with the Consumers Energy code of conduct and strong project management skills to ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities :
- Define project scope precisely and develop comprehensive project schedules.
- Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets to prevent cost overruns.
- Ensure project teams have necessary resources, including supplies and personnel, to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks affecting project timeline and budget.
- Assign and clarify responsibilities for all project team members.
- Communicate project progress, challenges, and outcomes to management.
- Maintain quality standards for project deliverables, materials, and team performance.
- Foster a positive customer interface, addressing scope, safety, quality, schedule, and cost concerns effectively.
- Collaborate with internal support teams (engineering, scheduling, cost controls, construction, startup / testing) to ensure project alignment.
- Coordinate with Architect / Engineering firms to secure timely and high-quality project support.
- Deliver presentations when required.
- Travel to job locations within Michigan (~25% of the time) for project oversight, department meetings, and training.
- Work a flexible schedule as required, typically 40–50 hours per week.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.Applied engineering experience or equivalent work experience, including project management experience.Knowledge of project management principles and ability to apply them effectively.Strong organizational skills and ability to align projects with departmental and company objectives.Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.Ability to solve complex problems efficiently using project management methodologies.Preferred Qualifications :
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.Experience in natural gas generating plant development, project management, and construction.Other Requirements & Information :
