About The Position
Job Title : Licensed Respiratory Therapist

Shift : 7a-7p, every other weekend rotation
Hours per Shift : 12
Experience : Zero (0) to six (6) months of related experience
License : Valid Provisional / Respiratory Care Practitioner License or Temporary letter to practice issued by the Medical Board
Certifications : Certified / Registered Respiratory Therapist credential through the National Board of Respiratory Care. Basic Life Support certification from AHA within 2 months of hire.
Must-Have : 1 year of experience; BLS certified through AHA; Critical Care
Description :
The Licensed Respiratory Therapist assesses, implements, and evaluates the delivery of respiratory care services.
This is done utilizing processes in accordance with hospital standards and department policies for monitoring and evaluating patient status.
Responsibilities include assessing and delivering care / interventions to patients considering age, cultural, and psychosocial factors.
Performs computer entry, verifies physician orders, and documents pertinent clinical information.
Provides accurate documentation in the medical record according to policy.
Delivers effective care to patients in critical care areas.
Provides mechanical ventilation, invasive and non-invasive, while monitoring and measuring patient parameters.
Attends to ventilator maintenance and setting changes, monitoring patient response to setting changes.
Communicates effectively with the healthcare team and demonstrates professional judgment in response to changing patient or departmental situations.
As indicated, delegates and supervises tasks to appropriate staff members.
Acknowledges and demonstrates respect for patients' rights.
Establishes effective relationships with patients, their families, and medical staff utilizing positive customer service skills.
Maintains communication updates with the department consistently.
Supports departmental goals by attending in-services and completing variance reports.
Organizes, prioritizes, and performs skills appropriate for the patient population.
Anticipates patient and departmental needs.
Responds to code blues and transports in a timely manner.
Participates in mentoring of new personnel.
Assists in monitoring quality and appropriateness of patient care.
Participates actively in projects designed to improve patient outcomes.
Exercises independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
Coordinates activities of others without supervision.
Works directly with patients and / or customers.
Interacts with internal customers via telephone or face-to-face.
Interacts with external customers via telephone or face-to-face.
Collaborates with other healthcare professionals and staff.
