Travel RN Job Details Location : Newport News, VA (23601) – Virginia nursing jobs Facility Setting : Medical Surgical Float Pool – General Employment Type : Travel RN Contract Start Date : December 8, 2025 End Date : March 9, 2026 Contract Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (07 : 00 – 19 : 00) Hours per Week : 36 Estimated Weekly Pay : $1890 - $1940 Patient Population : Adolescents, Adults, Geriatrics Weekend Coverage : Required (minimum 3 weekend shifts per contract) Med / Surg Tele RN Qualifications Minimum 2 years of recent Med / Surg Telemetry RN experience (including at least 18 months of medical surgical nursing experience) Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state Required Certifications : ACLS, BLS, NIHSS EPIC charting experience required Stroke education required Ability to float to multiple units : 4 medical, 2 general surgery, 2 neuro, ortho, oncology (no chemotherapy administration required) Experience with patient ratios of 1 : 5 (days) and 1 : 6 (nights) Supervisory reference required for submission Specialty experience within the last year required Registered Nurse Responsibilities Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in the Medical / Surgical Telemetry Float Pool Monitor and manage patients with cerebrovascular accidents (CVA), dysrhythmias, orthopedic trauma, and total joint replacements Interpret and manage cardiac rhythms and telemetry monitoring Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including IV, PT, RT, pharmacy, and social services Float to various medical, surgical, neuro, ortho, and oncology units as needed Document patient care using EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system Participate in rapid response and stroke protocols Maintain compliance with hospital policies and travel nursing contract guidelines Ready to take the next step in your nursing career?
