Maintenance And Operations Supervisor
This position is located in the Facilities Maintenance Section of Engineering Service, West Los Angeles or Sepulveda / Los Angeles Ambulatory Care (LAACC). The incumbent serves as the Maintenance and Operations supervisor and provides comprehensive managerial and technical expertise to for maintenance, repairs and improvement of critical building systems.
Responsibilities duties include but are not limited to :
- The incumbent has full supervisory and administrative responsibilities for all the wage-grade supervisors of the M&O Section which includes the following shops and program : Electric, Carpentry, Paint, Sign, Plumbing, Engineering Control Center, Air Conditioning, General Mechanic, Work Order Desk, Boiler Plant, Lock and Key, Grounds, and Way finding / Signage.
- Serves as a fulltime Maintenance & Operations Supervisor, and reports to the Associate Chief of Facilities Management Service and the Facility Manager.
- Plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Maintenance & Operations element of Facilities Management, ensuring that Infrastructure Maintenance, Grounds & Transportation, Utility Plant Management and Service.
- Ascertains contract monitoring complies with legal and regulatory requirements and meets customer needs.
- Has oversight relative to overall maintenance activities and will discharge their duties / functions as necessary to ensure compliance with all applicable Codes, VA Directives, NFPA, The JC, Long Term Care Org, OSHA, and EPA requirements.
- Identifies the need for special projects and initiates milestones and goals.
- Researches and recommends appropriate actions or interpretation of issues with the potential to impact the organization or physical plant.
- Recognized as an authority in facility maintenance & operations and provides technical advice to management and personnel of other departmental / organizational elements supported by Engineering Service pertaining to problems, tasks, or work involving any or all engineering specialties.
- Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe work environment.
Work Schedule : Monday-Friday from 7 : 00am-3 : 30pm, but will be on call and may work on weekends, afternoon and or holidays in order to keep the Sepulveda campus in operation.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions :
The work is generally sedentary. It occasionally requires carrying of light objects such as files, books and papers; some walking, standing, bending and climbing into full-sized buses and 3-axel trucks. No special physical qualifications are required. The work is typically performed in an office setting.

Receiving Service Credit or Earning Annual (Vacation) Leave : Federal Employees earn annual leave at a rate (4, 6 or 8 hours per pay period) which is based on the number of years they have served as a Federal employee. Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior work experience or military service experience. This credited service can be used in determining the rate at which they earn annual leave. Such credit must be requested and approved prior to the appointment date and is not guaranteed.
