Police Cadet

The Position

Under close supervision, performs a variety of trainee level law enforcement functions for the City of Riverside Police Department. This is a work training program for college students who are preparing for a career in law enforcement.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to, the following :

• Determines classes of crime and collects evidence.
• Prepares detailed police reports.
• Initiates and issues parking citations.
• Assists officers policing special events.
• Assists in crime scene security
• Assists support personnel with clerical duties as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education : High School Diploma or G.E.D; must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) semester units at an accredited college or university and maintain a minimum of a 2.0 or "C" grade point average. Special Requirement : Minimum age of 18 years required with a maximum age of 24 years.

Selection Process

Selection Process :

The selection process will begin with an employment application package screening, with the best qualified candidates being invited to participate further in the assessment process. This process may include any combination of written, performance, and oral assessments to evaluate job-related education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities. Those who successfully complete the selection process will be placed on the eligibility list for this classification.

Positions that require, or may require, a California Commercial Driver's License are considered Safety Sensitive and are monitored by the U.S. Department of Transportation.
