PURPOSE OF POSITION :
The Assistant to the Chancellor and Driver is responsible for managing the Chancellor’s transportation and related logistics, while also supporting the daily operations of the Chancellor’s Office. This includes coordinating travel, maintaining the Chancellor’s vehicle, and assisting with personal and administrative tasks. The role also involves addressing the Chancellor’s security needs both in transit and within the office environment. This is a highly sensitive and trusted position that requires exceptional organizational skills, sound independent judgment, discretion, and a commitment to confidentiality in all matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Provides travel for the Chancellor :
- Plans the driving itinerary for off-site travel by identifying and planning best routes to destination locations.
- Drives and accompanies the Chancellor to off-site meetings and appointments.
- Coordinates cleaning, refueling, and the mechanical maintenance of the Chancellor’s vehicle.
- Assists with the processing of vehicle registration and other similar documentation.
- Addresses the security needs of the Chancellor.
Provides personal and administrative support for the Chancellor :
Assists the Chancellor with follow-up on requests, invitations, and contacts.Coordinates travel arrangements with Chancellor’s office staff, including scheduling, meals, and lodging.Serves as gatekeeper in the field among colleagues and keeps the Chancellor on schedule.Anticipates the needs of the Chancellor and collaborates with colleagues to resolve them.Serves as an intermediary for the Chancellor when in publicCollaborates with colleagues in the Chancellor’s office to arrange the Chancellor’s schedule on a daily basis.Front Desk and Administrative Support for the Chancellor’s Office :
Provides in-office coverage by greeting visitors, answering phone calls, and performing light administrative tasks.Ensures a welcoming and professional environment while supporting the daily operations of the Chancellor’s Office.Assists with security planning for various engagements.ANNUAL SALARY : $65,000-$78,000
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :
Required Education Level / Certifications :
High School diploma or GED.Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. The incumbent must maintain the required driver's license with no more than 5 points. Applicants may be required to submit a certified copy of their driving record before appointment.Required Experience :
1 year of administrative experience and 1 year of experience operating automotive transportation equipment to transport passengers.
Required Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Basic understanding of automobile care and operation, including familiarity with traffic laws and driving regulations."Skill in safe driving in all kinds of weather, road conditions, and heavily congested areas.Ability to judge distances accurately over long stretches of highway and to read and interpret road maps.Ability to assist passengers in and out of vehicles and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).Ability to assess and address traffic and mechanical emergencies satisfactorily.Strong attention to detail and time management skills.Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality.Ability to work well both independently and collegially with a team.Excellent interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy.Working knowledge of current calendar platforms, word processing software, email, and cell phone applications.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Some college courses or associate's or bachelor’s degree.State-Issued Armed Guard License.Preferred Experience :
5 or more years of experience in the operation of automotive transportation equipment in the transportation of passengers.Personal security or law-enforcement experience.Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Abilities :
Proficiency in Microsoft Office platform applications (e.g., Mail, Calendar, and Teams), and other relevant software.Strong ability to anticipate office needs, plan ahead, and to proactively and strategically meet those needs in a timely manner.Benefits
