Department Department of Population Health and Pathobiology About the Department As its mission, the Department of Population Health and Pathobiology (PHP) strives to prepare today’s veterinary, undergraduate, and graduate students to respond to current and future challenges in both veterinary and human medicine. We serve national and global endeavors focused on food animal production, veterinary medicine and human medicine through excellence in teaching, high impact research and discovery, veterinary clinical sciences, and extension / engagement.
We orient our research to the One Health approach focused on the areas of pathology, immunology / infectious disease, farm and food animal medicine (swine, poultry and ruminant), and epidemiology / global health benefiting both animal and human populations.
Our high standards of excellence position us as leaders in the Veterinary College, North Carolina State University, and profession. Located on 180 acres near downtown Raleigh, the College encompasses 20 buildings on the main Centennial Biomedical Campus. Instruction is in three departments—Clinical Sciences, Molecular Biomedical Sciences, and Population Health and Pathobiology. In addition to the four-year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, there are programs leading to master and doctoral degrees in several areas with numerous opportunities for specialization. Essential Job Duties The Clinical Pathology service within our department is a dynamic, collaborative team focused on advancing the field through both basic and applied research. We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated expertise in clinical pathology and a strong emphasis on innovative research.
Key Responsibilities :
Collaborative opportunities also exist with the Departments of Clinical Sciences and Molecular Biomedical Sciences, which focus on companion animal genetics, gastrointestinal biology, stem cell biology, and neurosciences.
