Job description

Sr. Director Of Facilities

Responsible for facilities operations at bioMrieux SLC, supporting a large campus of regional corporate offices, ISO 13485-regulated manufacturing centers, R&D laboratories, Bio Safety Labs, and warehousing. Oversees hard and soft services, facilities engineering and maintenance, site master planning, and management of large capital projects for facilities expansion. Ensures compliance to all applicable regulatory and safety requirements and is accountable for risk mitigation through business continuity plans. Drives continuous improvement with a focus on safety, operational efficiency, sustainability, and cost reduction.

  • Performs all work in compliance with the Quality Management System, corporate safety culture, and federal, regional, and state regulations.
  • Leads strategic site master planning and manages technical scope of facilities expansion projects.
  • Works closely with procurement to select and manage engineering and architecture firms on key capital projects, ensuring projects are completed on time and according to budget.
  • With a strong emphasis on customer service and safety, provides vision and leadership for cost-effective and sustainable engineering, operations, and maintenance of buildings, utilities, equipment and motor vehicles.
  • Provides technical leadership, guidance, and development for the facilities team compliant to local, federal, and international regulations and aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Responsible for the department budget and for driving cost reduction and sustainability through continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Manages insourced support or external contracts for facilities maintenance and engineering, custodial, cafeteria, landscaping, and parking lot maintenance.
  • Defines statement of work for and drives performance of contracted activities in compliance with procurement department procedures and internal control requirements.
  • Oversees infrastructure risk mitigation plans to ensure business continuity of a 24 / 7 operation supporting significant revenue for the business. Resolves critical issues in a time-sensitive manner, ensuring maximum uptime for operations.
  • Responsible for the compliance, inspection, testing, and uptime of all facilities infrastructure and equipment.
  • Ensures effective communication across all levels of the organization. Prepare reports regarding utilities, departmental efficiency, budget, cost analysis, etc.

Maintains >

1 million SF across six buildings in the SLC area, serving more than 3,000 team members. Responsible for all aspects of facilities operations and maintenance for a 24 / 7 manufacturing scope supplying >

40% of global company revenue. The site also serves as the North American corporate headquarters and houses senior and executive leaders. Leads the site master plan and directs capital projects for key facilities expansion projects. Requires technical aptitude to interface with engineering and architecture firms and the ability to represent the company as a subject matter expert.

Requires a bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, construction management, or related field.

  • Requires 10+ years of significant leadership experience overseeing facilities operations with budget oversight and demonstrated experience in cost reduction and operational efficiency. Experience in asset management is required.
  • Requires 5+ years of experience managing facilities operations in an ISO 13485 regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Requires demonstrated experience working with engineering and architectural firms in facilities designs and the ability to manage large capital projects. Must be able to serve as the subject matter expert on technical scope and statements of work for the business.
  • Requires demonstrated experience in developing and driving safety culture.
  • Requires demonstrated experience leading transformational change.
  • Knowledge, special skills, and / or abilities required to perform the job functions (e.g., negotiation, technical writing, statistical evaluation).

  • Ability to work and communicate with all types of personnel from contractual, hourly and executive management.
  • Must be proficient Microsoft Office package, design software, and maintenance work order systems. Experienced in SAP is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and lead through influence to build and continuously improve systems and protocols.
  • Ability to drive and deliver critical projects on time, in-budget, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.
