What You Will Do...
- Coordinate, implement, and execute the Safety Programs for the site.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of EHS programs at the facility to measure conformance / compliance and ensure minimization of risk.
- Completely and accurately record required metrics of the safety program
- Assist the operations organization in identifying hazards, risks, controls, and barriers to ensure safe operations at the facility and conformance to regulatory, consensus, and voluntary standards (from Cal OSHA to ISO)
- Administrate the site investigation program for accidents / incidents, including providing investigation guidance when needed, providing input to develop metrics, analyzing incident data to identify trends, reports data in a clear and concise manner, and assists operations in completing obligations on time.
- Provide professional advice on best practices and methods for specific hazard management and control, and barrier maintenance for site hazard reviews, such as JSA / JHA, FMEA, etc.
- Review all changes for impacts to safety / assesses application of RAGAGEP in equipment changes.
- Identify safety training needs and develop and maintain training calendar. Develop and / or approve content of training programs to influence employee safety mindset in CMD (Irvine / Poway) facilities.
- Validate and maintain EHS training records and related documents.
- Perform or coordinate industrial hygiene / ergonomics evaluations. Interpret and analyze the results of the studies and evaluations, recommend corrections as implicated in study results.
- Anticipate, identify, evaluate and isolate safety hazards / risks of all types. (I.e. chemical, electrical, mechanical, heat, cold, etc.).
- Assure compliance with Regulatory Agencies, governing bodies, certification bodies as it relates to EHS. This includes but is not limited to : OSHA, CALOSHA, EPA / RCRA, CERCLA, SARA, and DOT / IATA.
Submits required reports in a timely manner.
- Participate, report, and advise in management meetings.
- Create, update, and maintain EHS of work instructions (WI), procedure (SOP), forms, and logs.
- Participate in educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and seminars / webinars.
- Works with facility management and corporate governing teams to establish strategic goals by gathering / reviewing pertinent safety, environment, and operations information.
- Ensure EHS programs for contractor oversight and management are in place and effective.
- Coaching, mentoring, and support the EHS team / employees assigned in CMD (Irvine / Poway).
- Participate in review (transportation, handling, storage, and regulation compliance) and approval process of new raw materials for R&D and production.
- Planning and advising other departments about safety and environmental regulations compliance for risk elimination or mitigation.
- Advise and share information with Mitsubishi Chemical America (MCA), affiliates and other Mitsubishi companies about local and / or federal regulations.
Liaisons with affiliates as required.
- Lead the emergency response team for any emergency including- spills, exotherms, first aid, in CMD.
- Follows safety and regulations to ensure a safe working environment
- Support the employee-led safety committee through education and advice.
- Support and execute the deployment of other EHS duties and projects as assigned / as required by top-management.
What You Will Have...
- Bachelor’s Degree in physical science, engineering, occupational health and safety, or related field. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Safety Certification (SMS, OHST, CIT, ASP, CSP, etc.) preferred. Knowledge of process safety a plus.
- Competent in MS Office applications.
- Extensive knowledge of OSHA, CALOSHA and EPA regulations in California.
- 3 to 7 years of Manufacturing experience in a safety role with progressing responsibility and demonstrated ability to work independently
Pay Transparency (complete highlighted sections)
The salary range for this position is $71,390 - $89,200. Factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education / training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.
This salary will be subject to a geographic adjustment (according to a specific city and state), if an authorization is granted to work outside of the location listed in this posting.
