Med / Surg RN Job Details

Location : Martinsburg, West Virginia (25401)

Healthcare Setting : Acute Care – Medical Surgical, 5th Floor

Position Type : Travel Registered Nurse (RN)

Contract Length : 13 weeks

Start Date : November 26, 2025

End Date : February 25, 2026

Shift : 12-hour nights (7 : 00 PM – 7 : 30 AM), 3 shifts / week

Guaranteed Hours : 36 hours per week

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1930–$2070

Weekend / Holiday : Every other weekend, holidays as needed

Unit Size : 35 beds (flex up to 42)

Patient Ratios : 1 : 5-6

Charting System : Epic EMR

Registered Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (open to candidates awaiting West Virginia licensure)

Minimum 1 year of recent Medical Surgical nursing experience

BLS certification (AHA required)

ACLS certification preferred

COVID-19 vaccination required (medical / religious exemptions considered)

Proficiency in basic arrhythmia recognition and ability to identify fatal rhythms

Willingness to float to other Med / Surg units as needed

Med / Surg RN Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to diverse patient populations, including cardiac, renal, oncology, stroke, trauma, and wound care cases

Monitor patients on remote telemetry and respond promptly to changes in condition

Administer IV medications (Heparin, Protonix) and manage non-titrating drips

Collaborate with hospitalists, charge nurses, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams

Document patient care accurately using Epic EMR

Participate in unit-specific orientation (1-2 shifts with a preceptor)

Maintain professional appearance (navy blue scrubs, natural hair color, cover tattoos as required)

Support unit staffing needs by working every other weekend and holidays as needed
