Job Details

Registered Professional Nurse providing safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to ICU patients.

Delivers patient care incorporating Relationship Centered Care and nursing process based on theory, research, evidence-based practice, and organizational nursing standards.

Assesses and evaluates patient care needs applying critical thinking skills.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary healthcare team in care planning and evaluation.

Prioritizes patient care including teaching, rounding, coaching, discharge planning, and delegation.

Educates patients and caregivers about plan of care, transition, health promotion, and disease prevention.

Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.

Manages assignments within Modified Primary Nursing care delivery model.

Role models Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care through various patient engagement activities.

Considers patient values, preferences, cultural diversity, and needs in care.

Establishes therapeutic relationships with patients and families.

Uses evidence-based practices to understand patient perceptions of care.

Initiates service recovery and escalates concerns appropriately.

Demonstrates caring, respect, compassion, empathy, and active listening.

Supports staff use of evidence-based practices to improve patient care understanding.

Conducts Purposeful Hourly Rounding addressing patient needs.

Practices safe and efficient patient-centered care, identifying barriers and opportunities for improvement.

Demonstrates clinical skills and knowledge crucial to quality and safety in ICU patient population.

Implements process improvement strategies based on institutional and evidence-based procedures.

Engages in peer and institutional review processes.

Collaborates on quality improvement projects, evidence-based practice activities, and nursing research.

Contributes to quality and safety practices and compliance measures.

Implements high reliability principles to avoid high risk behaviors and ensure patient safety.

Escalates safety hazards or gaps following institutional protocols.

Utilizes institutional IT for documentation supporting quality and performance improvement initiatives.

Job Requirements

Registered Professional Nurse (RN) licensure required in New York.

BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
