Overview
NBC Connecticut is looking for an Executive Producer to oversee all elements of news programs and daily OTT newscast, as well as help inspire and coach a talented, enthusiastic staff. The ideal candidate is a dynamic collaborator with a passion for impactful storytelling, a sharp editorial eye, and a deep understanding of how audiences engage with news in today’s rapidly evolving media landscape. This position works to coordinate content on all NBC CT platforms and reports directly to the Assistant News Director.
Responsibilities
- Lead the editorial vision and execution of daily newscasts and digital content in line with our Director of Multiplatform Specials, ensuring compelling, accurate and audience-first storytelling.
- Oversee live broadcast and streaming news productions, integrating breaking news, enterprise reporting, and innovative elements.
- Assist VP of News, Assistant News Director and Managing Editor in managing the day-to-day news operation.
- Participate in daily planning meetings.
- Contribute ideas for news programming based on the NBC Connecticut News Strategy.
- Oversee show production.
- Share responsibility for determining the composition and flow of all newscasts, selecting video, writing, and copy-editing stories.
- Collaborate closely with producers, anchors, reporters, editors, digital team, and technical crews to ensure program elements abide by NBC Owned Stations News Guidelines as well as the NBC Connecticut News Strategy.
- Work with Assistant News Director to ensure training and coaching is provided for Producers.
- Schedule and maintain regular feedback sessions with direct reports to work on writing, showcasing, and other elements.
- Motivate staff through effective implementation of NBC’s performance management process.
- Facilitate the orientation of new employees.
- Implement NBC Connecticut news standards and ensure adherence while producing news programs.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experienceAt least 3 years of related work experience including direct responsibility for producing a news program and preparing rundowns.Eligibility Requirements
