Job Title : CNC Machinist and Programmer Job Description

A CNC machinist is responsible for setting up, operating, and programming computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce precision metal or plastic parts. This involves interpreting blueprints, creating machining programs, and ensuring quality control through inspections, all while maintaining the functionality and safety of the equipment. Essentially, they use computer-controlled machinery to create precise parts according to detailed specifications.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, studying engineering drawings and work orders to understand required dimensions, tolerances, and machining operations.
• Set up machines by properly mounting and securing raw materials on the CNC machine, selecting and setting up cutting tools, and setting reference points.
• Write and edit CNC programs using specialized software to define tool paths, speeds, feeds, and other machining parameters.
• Monitor machine operation during machining processes, making adjustments as needed to maintain quality and accuracy.
• Perform in-process inspections using precision measuring tools like calipers and micrometers to verify part dimensions and tolerances.
• Identify and resolve machine malfunctions, including tool wear, material issues, and programming errors.
• Clean and lubricate CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and lifespan.
• Handle materials by loading and unloading raw materials and finished parts.

Work Environment

Work in a climate-controlled machine shop environment with three separate buildings. The role may require standing for extended periods and lifting heavy materials. Expect exposure to noise from machinery.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $75000.00 / yr.

Company offers full health, dental, and vision benefits as well as PTO and 401K
