Associate Product Manager

Location :   This position is hybrid to the Naperville office. Remote candidates will be considered.

About the Data & Analytics Business

Frontline’s Data & Analytics business is a standalone unit within the organization, dedicated to unlocking the full potential of district data. Our analytics platforms give school systems the clarity and confidence to move from information to action—enabling smarter, faster, and more transparent decisions across every dimension of district leadership.

The Data & Analytics suite includes :

Business Analytics, helping district finance and operations leaders forecast, plan, and optimize resource allocation;

Comparative Analytics, providing districts with benchmarking data to measure performance relative to peers;

Student Analytics, which turns academic and engagement data into actionable insight for improving learning, equity, and achievement; and

Location Analytics, which leverages GIS technology to visualize student, staffing, and facility data on interactive maps for strategic boundary and resource planning.

This role will primarily support our Location Analytics products, leveraging best in class GIS technology to assist school districts with some of their most strategic decisions.

Together, these solutions embody our mission : to help district leaders make sense of their data, communicate clearly, and act confidently.

How You'll Contribute to Our Mision

Associate Product Managers at Frontline Education are emerging product professionals who contribute to shaping solutions that balance user needs, business priorities, and technical feasibility. Working in close partnership with a Product Manager, they help identify customer problems, support discovery efforts, and drive execution that delivers meaningful impact. This role is designed for individuals building depth in product management while contributing to a collaborative, outcome-driven team.

How You'll Drive Success

Discovery & Validation

Partner with the Product Manager and cross-functional teams to research customer needs and validate problem statements.

Support the design and execution of experiments, surveys, and customer interviews.

Analyze quantitative and qualitative data — including spatial and usage data — to uncover insights that inform product priorities.

Collaborate with users to understand how they rely on maps, boundaries, and location-based insights to make decisions.

Assist in validating hypotheses about map workflows and spatial data usability through prototypes, mockups, and concept testing.

Delivery & Execution

Write clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria under the guidance of a Product Manager.

Translate geospatial and data visualization requirements into actionable development tasks.

Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.

Ensure backlog items are well-documented, organized, and aligned with product and business goals.

Collaborate with Engineering and Design to test and validate delivered solutions.

Help verify that the user experience of map-based features—such as layers, filters, and polygons—meets expectations and aligns with user needs.

Product Strategy & Communication

Contribute to roadmap discussions by gathering input from users and stakeholders, especially for mapping, spatial analytics, and data visualization features.

Assist in preparing presentations, demos, and reports that communicate product metrics and geospatial insights.

Help maintain alignment between team activities and product objectives through clear communication and documentation.

Monitor trends in GIS, mapping, and spatial technologies to inform ongoing innovation and differentiation in the product.

What Success Looks Like :

You’re developing confidence in discovery and delivery practices.

You understand how your product creates value for customers — especially through location intelligence and data visualization.

You effectively support your team in delivering meaningful outcomes with quality and precision.

You seek feedback, learn quickly, and grow your product management and geospatial fluency.

You create product features that are easy to use for non-GIS users that drive self-sufficient product usage.

What You Bring to Help Us Grow

Analytical mindset with an ability to interpret both tabular and spatial datasets, customer feedback, and usage metrics.

A passion for technology, education, and continuous improvement.

Familiarity with agile development, experimentation, and continuous discovery practices.

GIS or mapping experience is a strong plus, including exposure to :

Tools such as OpenLayers, third party mapping APIs, or ArcGIS / QGIS

Spatial databases (e.g., PostgreSQL / PostGIS)

GeoJSON, shapefiles, or coordinate reference systems

Cartographic principles and best practices for map-based visualization

AI experience is a plus; AI curiosity is a must — a passion for learning and applying emerging technologies to improve outcomes.

This role requires :

1–4 years of experience in product management or a related role (internship or entry-level experience welcome).

Experience working with K–12 education data, school boundaries, or demographic mapping.

Coursework or professional background in Geography, Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

A customer-obsessed mindset, driven by empathy, insight, and measurable results.

Familiarity with spatial analytics concepts and applying them in a Geographic Information System.

Strong curiosity and willingness to learn product discovery, agile practices, and spatial data concepts.
