Lead Data Center Technician

Job Brief : We are seeking a skilled Data Center Team Lead to join our IT team. The Data Center Team Lead responsibilities include maintaining the data center's IT system, troubleshooting issues, performing server installations, and ensuring uninterrupted access to network services. The ideal candidate for this role should possess a strong understanding of network infrastructure and data center operations. Familiarity with server installations and network updates is also required. Additionally, the candidate will perform duties of a team leader and have project management experience. Certification in project management is a plus. The candidate should also have GPU experience and 4 plus years in a hyperscale environment.

Responsibilities :

o Move servers and switches to required destinations for installation.

o Inspect servers and switches to ensure they are not damaged.

o Install servers and switches and cable them according to provided wire maps.

o Ensure all cables are bundled neatly and in accordance with standards.

o Double-check with network admins to ensure everything is cabled correctly and all connections are up.

o Audit servers and consumables.

o Troubleshoot a variety of servers and isolate the problem that the server is encountering.

o Order replacement parts and install them in servers and ship back the defective part to their respective vendors.

o Update firmware on servers to ensure the latest version is installed.

o Configure IP addresses and default login credentials on servers.

o Assist network admins on any issues they are having with a server, including replacing broken or damaged cables, re-routing cables to different ports on the server or switch, replacing optics on both server and switch ports, changing out parts, and installing upgraded versions of those parts in servers.

o Temporarily rack and stack a server or switch in a cabinet and cable it so the network admin can remotely log in and run configurations on the device.

o Assist network admins who reach out requesting specific assistance with servers or switches.

o Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.

o Perform break-fix tasks, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.

• Serve as the initial contact / liaison between team members and management.
• Prioritize and manage workload across the team.
• Direct build activities related to data center operations.
• Designate predetermined training paths in line with company standards.
• Ensure projects are aligned with data center standards.
• Lead and mentor deployment and operational teams.
• Provide thought leadership to aid with growth across the program.
• Manage multiple simultaneous projects with a high degree of stress within the work environment.
• Monitor project deadlines and provide status updates to project managers.
• Ensure compliance with safety measures and data center standards.
• Deploy and configure GPUs in servers, ensuring proper installation and functionality.
• Perform break-fix tasks related to GPUs, including troubleshooting and replacing faulty components.

Requirements :

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of computer hardware, servers, and components.
• Flexibility to work non-standard business hours that may include weekends and / or holidays.
• Proven experience as a technical lead with the ability for people supervision.

• Additional Skills & Qualifications
• CompTIA A+ or equivalent experience.
• CompTIA Server+ or equivalent experience.
• CCENT or equivalent experience.
• CCNA certification preferred.
• MCP / MSCE certification preferred.
• Scripting experience preferred - PowerShell, Python, Bash.
• Project management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
• Experience managing work and priorities through a ticketing system.
• OSHA30 or higher certification.
• Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $49.50 - $49.50 / hr.
