Responsibilities

The Department of Political Science at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time 9- month non-tenure-track Lecturer to begin Spring 2026. As a faculty member in the Department of Political Science you will be expected to:

1. Teach 12 credit hours/4 courses of American national government and Texas government each semester.
2. Communicate and meet with students.
3. Assist with departmental needs.
4. Maintain a regular presence on campus.

Requirements

Required Qualifications Include:

1. MA in Political Science

2. Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications Include:

1. PhD (ABD accepted) in Political Science. Commitment to undergraduate education.
2. Experience teaching courses in American national government and/or Texas government.
3. Experience teaching in-person courses.
4. Experience teaching online courses.

Standard Requirements

Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. The Prothro-Yeager College of Humanities and Social Sciences consists of the academic departments of English, humanities, and philosophy; history; psychology; political science; sociology; and world languages and cultures.
