Experience : Three years in a clinical specialty, two years in a charge nurse / leadership position required
License : RN License Required
Certifications : BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), Current Arrhythmia Certification preferred
Description :
This job is responsible for organizing, planning, leading, and directing clinical and management activities for the designated department in accordance with policies and procedures.
Accountable for daily operations and oversight of nursing practice and patient care delivery.
Participates as a member of the healthcare team in maintaining continuity and quality of patient care.
Contributes to organizational operations and supports the mission by fostering interdepartmental communication and collaboration.
Demonstrates a high level of ability in leadership, supervisory skills, problem-solving, patient advocacy, and public relations.
Manages and evaluates clinical operations, programs, and resources of the assigned clinical area / facility to ensure the safe and appropriate delivery of diagnostic and / or therapeutic patient care.
Ensures that all activities are conducted in a timely and cost-effective manner and in compliance with organizational values, professional standards, internal policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Participates in the development of, and implements new clinical systems and programs to enhance existing services and raise the standard of care for the patient population served.
Ensures that work unit activities, productivity, and quality indicators are documented in accordance with guidelines.
Oversees the resolution of daily clinical administrative and operational issues.
Monitors and troubleshoots service recovery and other escalated concerns and resolves within defined scope of responsibility.
Collaborates with other departments to address and resolve problems, share information, and enhance overall effectiveness and productivity.
Acts as a liaison between physicians and staff, fostering positive interpersonal communications.
Communicates significant information to the appropriate authorities in a timely and appropriate manner.
Applies the nursing process to direct patient care through assessment, analysis of collected data, development of a plan of care, and implementation and evaluation of nursing interventions / actions in relation to intended goals.
Supports coordination, prioritization, and communication related to procedure scheduling and patient flow to ensure maximum efficiency, safety, and appropriate utilization of resources.
Available to support staff as a resource person for procedures and treatments in addition to occasionally taking on-call shifts.
Plans, manages, and evaluates the work of clinical and administrative staff in accordance with applicable regulations and standards for human resource management.
Ensures that employees are qualified and properly trained to perform assigned job duties.
Holds regular staff meetings and keeps employees apprised of all matters relevant to successful job performance.
Makes employment decisions, establishes performance standards, and evaluates employee performance.
Educates, guides, counsels, and develops staff while addressing performance management concerns and technical issues elevated by subordinates.
Knowledge of principles, practices, standards, techniques, protocols, and tools of the nursing profession and the assigned clinical nursing specialization.
Knowledge of applicable policies, standards, and legal regulatory requirements within designated scope of responsibility.
Leadership skills include the ability to serve as a role model, initiator in problem-solving, decision-making, delegating, and communicating ideas and information.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships required by the duties of the position.
Familiarity with contemporary healthcare trends and ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
Ability to use office equipment and automated systems / applications / software at an acceptable proficiency level.
Skills in strategic planning, financial analysis, and managed care reimbursement.
Demonstrated ability to maintain flexibility, cooperation, and participate in cross-organizational performance improvement activities.
Supervisory skills include developing clear performance expectations, hiring, coaching, conflict management, counseling, and facilitating group processes.
Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written forms.
Ability to read and understand English sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
