Under the direction of the Director of Health Information Management, the Coder performs CPT and ICD-10-CM Coding, admission processing, retrieves medical records for upcoming encounters, analyzes and reviews records for completeness, assembles / scans records, and coordinates the follow-up on deficient / delinquent outpatient records.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities :

• Performs CPT and ICD-10-CM coding for outpatient encounters; provides leveling expertise to all charge slips.
• Performs admission processing; retrieves paper charts daily, enters all new patients into computer system.
• Performs quantitative analysis for completeness on discharge record and coordinates follow-up on delinquent / deficient records to assure compliance with Federal, State and hospital regulations.
• Performs daily chart reconciliation.
• Scans paperwork into computer system.
• Provides quality customer service and maintains patient confidentiality.
• Performs other duties as assigned / required by this position.
