As the Safety Coordinator – Matting , you will assist the Safety Team in supporting field personnel and promoting a culture of safety. This role is ideal for someone developing their safety career and seeking hands-on experience in supporting compliance and training initiatives in the field.
What You'll Do
- Conduct and document field safety observations and job site audits
- Support field teams with daily safety needs and help ensure compliance with company safety programs
- Lead safety meetings and toolbox talks; determine relevant topics for the meeting
- Ensure PPE and safety equipment are stocked, maintained, and distributed appropriately
- Observe and report unsafe behaviors or conditions; help implement corrective actions
- Track and maintain safety-related records, including training logs, incident reports, and inspection checklists
- Support incident response efforts and documentation
- Shadow and assist in conducting safety training including First Aid / CPR, Equipment Operator Certification, OSHA 10 / 30, Power safe training, PPE, hazard communication, and equipment use
- Learn and apply relevant OSHA and DOT regulations under guidance
- Promote safety awareness and encourage "Good Catch" reporting among crews
- Ensure JSA's, field audits, equipment inspections, and safety meetings are being conducted effectively
- Create Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) implementation plans when regulatory and / or systems deficiencies (or improvement opportunities) are identified
- Investigate all workplace incidents including near misses to determine the causes, providing a written report of the findings and making recommendations on how to prevent reoccurrence
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety or related field preferred3-5 years of safety-related experience in a construction, industrial, or field services environment preferredValid driver's license with clean driving recordStrong desire to build a career in safety and complianceEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to take initiative while also following directions and working in a teamFamiliarity with construction job site environments and equipment is a plusAbility to travel regionally and work flexible hours depending on project schedulesTravel 80-90%This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals' policies and procedures.
