Key Accountabilities

Test & Measurement Engineering

  • Define requirements for custom fixturing for workshop and rig-based tests.
  • Characterize vehicle hardware through scanning, dimensional, and inertial measurements.
  • Specify instrumentation, analyze data, and produce clear reports.
  • Lead and execute chassis rig and workshop tests for mechanical subsystems.
  • Innovate new testing methods for track and rig environments.
  • Collaborate with designers, electronics teams, and suppliers on test equipment.

Chassis Mechanical & Structural Reliability

  • Investigate and report chassis failures using data, photography, and lab analysis.
  • Analyze onboard and static data to identify root causes.
  • Document and present problem reports; track and resolve issues.
  • Manage testing of countermeasure parts and collaborate on solutions.
  • Apply novel instrumentation techniques for failure mode characterization.
  • Chassis Mechanical & Structural Development

  • Support race workshop assembly measurements and adjustments.
  • Validate performance effects of chassis developments using logged data.
  • Commission prototype parts and bespoke test equipment.
  • Lead design and hardware development for subsystem validation.
  • Technical Mentorship

  • Provide design input for chassis and powertrain integration.
  • Mentor junior engineers and supervise daily work.
  • Review designs for compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Ensure timely project delivery through active oversight and collaboration.
  • Design & Innovation

  • Propose new or improved designs incorporating emerging technologies.
  • Recommend cost-effective solutions without compromising performance.
  • Manage design changes and hardware updates with internal teams and vendors.
  • Administration

  • Report design faults and validation results promptly.
  • Track issue resolution through structured reporting.
  • Liaise with vendors, race teams, and test facilities to support development.
  • Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

5+ years in design, development, and testing of high-performance motorsport vehicles (race cars and track-focused road cars).

Hands-on expertise with mechanical and electronic systems : suspension, brakes, steering, bodywork, transmission, and powertrain.

Skilled in coordinating design and development activities, including scheduling and issue resolution.

Proficient in CAD for race car component modeling.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for evaluating design changes.

Data analysis using MATLAB or Python (signal processing, visualization).

Experience with telemetry and logged data for race car diagnostics.

Familiarity with vehicle dynamics test rigs and advanced instrumentation.

Knowledge of data logging hardware / software and test instrumentation.

Effective communication (verbal and written) with diverse audiences.

Detail-oriented, able to work under pressure in a culturally diverse environment.

    Alignment with Hondas respect-for-the-individual culture.

Strong project management and mentoring capabilities.
