Summary: Responsible for the day-to-day quality improvements initiatives as well as the planning, coordination, and implementation of specific quality improvement projects that may be identified.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.

  1. Serves as 'Voice of the Customer' reviewing concerns, questions and non-conforming material. Analyze failures; perform root cause analysis and corrective action for process related concerns and/ or customer complaints.
  2. Review, analyze, and determine Root Cause and Corrective Actions for internal Non-Conforming Material. Posts Key Business Indicators in support of company and corporate goals.
  3. Responsible for continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system and tools as well as work with manufacturing and engineering personnel in support of the quality function.
  4. Interfaces with engineering and operations to ensure successful new product launches.
  5. Supports the Quality Inspectors to ensure that products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system and customer requirements.
  6. Continuously improve Quality first piece, in-process, and final inspection processes and procedures.
  7. Assists in developing personnel to improve skills required to reduce final inspection turn-backs.
  8. Installs statistical sampling and monitoring of processes as required, reports on trends.
  9. Assist the Quality Manager in maintaining and improving the Quality Management System.
  10. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills:
  • Oral and Written Communication Skills with all levels including operators, inspectors, supervisors, customers, and outside suppliers.
  • Be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Operate multiple custom IT systems
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Products
  • In depth ability to read internal and customer prints
  • Project Management
  • Customer Service and Customer Relations
Education/Experience:
  • Five years Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) preferred.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Experience with CMM and CAD based computer programs.
  • Experience with ISO-9001, TS-16949 or AS-9100 Quality Management Systems
  • Experience with common machine shop gaging and techniques such as height gages, indicators, thread gages, plug gages, dial bore gages, surface finishes. Familiar with CMM machines and the associated coordinate measuring system.
Working Conditions:

Normal Production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts; breathing fumes, dust and mist; skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid; exposure to sharp metal edges, and forklifts

Physical Requirements:
  • Must have ability to read applicable customer/Tell Tool documents with or without corrective lenses.
  • May have lift up to thirty (30) pounds or more at a time.
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time.
