Staff Property Accountant

The Staff Property Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate financial reporting of assigned properties. Responsibilities include month-end close for assigned properties, reconciliation of accounts on a monthly basis and assisting property management and accounting department with financial projects as needed.

Essential Functions :

  • Accurately record income, expenses and changes in assets and liabilities on a monthly basis.
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts and applicable income statement accounts to ensure accuracy.
  • Assist Property Managers, Area Vice Presidents and Group Vice Presidents with variance reports included in monthly reporting package.
  • Assist Property Managers, Area Vice Presidents and Group Vice Presidents with understanding overall financial performance.
  • Prepare monthly bank statement reconciliations and promptly record any reconciling items.
  • Process debt service, tax, insurance and capital expense payments and ensure / verify payments are made as required
  • Responsible for daily cash management.
  • Reconcile security deposit liability and assets accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Maintain and organize monthly property files with appropriate support documentation.
  • Performs other related duties or special projects as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :

  • Must have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, Yardi, Entrata, and the internet.
  • Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers.
  • Must have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions and percentages.
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is required
