About the Role

The Sous Chef plays a key leadership role in the kitchen assisting the Executive Chef and Director of Dining Services in managing daily food production ensuring quality standards and supporting the training and supervision of kitchen staff.

Essential Functions :

• Prepare portion and serve food in accordance with established menu cycles recipes and production standards.
• Taste food to ensure quality flavor and presentation meet expectations.
• Demonstrate safe and efficient operation of all kitchen equipment.
• Maintain proper food handling sanitation and infection control standards in compliance with State Federal and WellSpring Group policies .
• Perform basic mathematical calculations to adjust recipes and portions as needed.
• Supervise and train kitchen assistants cooks and other food service staff; ensure all assigned tasks are completed properly and on time.
• Train staff on production techniques cross-contamination prevention time and temperature control sanitation and proper food storage.
• Ensure compliance with Alamance County Food Service Inspection Guidelines and maintain an A grade standard at all times.
• Assist new employees in following departmental policies and facility procedures.
• Participate in departmental meetings training sessions and other assigned facility activities.
• Support catering and special events for residents and guests.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef or Director of Dining Services.
