Job Description : Under the general supervision of the Administrative Director, Director of Site Operations or assigned manager / Site Manager in Collaboration with the Associate Chief of Ambulatory Nursing Practice, provides direct and indirect care to a specified group of patients in a variety of healthcare settings. Medical Assistants work in collaboration with the physician(s), or other health care provider(s), other ambulatory support staff within the department, and with other disciplines, to deliver patient care.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities : including but not limited to :
II. Collaborative Relationship : Collaborates, cooperates, and communicates with other health care personnel to ensure quality and continuity of care. Establishes collaborative relationships with nurses, physicians, other colleagues, patients and families. Participates in and supports the educational plan for patient and family. Supports Lahey Hospital and Medical Center's commitment to community based activities both within the Lahey community and beyond.
III. Clinical Guidance : The MA, within the scope of his / her practice, is responsible for the nature and quality of care they provide for patients.
IV. Clinical Study : The Medical Assistant in Ambulatory Care achieves clinical study through experiences with patients, through collaboration with colleagues and leadership and through formal and informal education. Learning is transformed into knowledge through self-reflection and analysis.
Organizational : Maintains strict adherence to the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Confidentiality policy. Incorporates Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities. Complies with all Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Policies. Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. Maintains courteous and effective interactions with colleagues and patients. Demonstrates an understanding of the job description, performance expectations, and competency assessment. Demonstrates a commitment toward meeting and exceeding the needs of our customers and consistently adheres to Customer Service standards. Participates in departmental and / or interdepartmental quality improvement activities. Participates in and successfully completes Mandatory Education. Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department.
Minimum Qualifications : Education : High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program. Licensure, Certification, Registration : None Skills, Knowledge & Abilities : Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required to communicate with patients, family members, physicians and other health care providers, as well as other colleagues. Knowledge of medical terminology. Must possess strong problem solving abilities and analytical skills to ensure patient's needs are met. Must possess basic computer skills to input and retrieve clinical information, as well as patient registration and appointment information. Utilizes critical thinking and good judgement in performance of tasks. Must possess good organizational skills and the ability to multitask and to prioritize daily assignments to ensure smooth work flow Experience : none.
