Job description

The University of Arizona College of

Medicine - Tucson (CoM-T) invites inquiries, nominations, and

expressions of interest for the role of Chair, Department of

Urology.

In 2015, Banner Health and the University of

Arizona Colleges of Medicine partnered through an academic

affiliation agreement, establishing a robust academic clinical

partnership, integrating research, education, and patient care

across its academic medical centers in both Tucson and Phoenix.

CoM-T’s stated mission is "to advance the health and wellness of

our community and beyond, in the relentless pursuit of excellence,

through innovation across our tripartite mission - education,

research, and patient care". CoM-T consists of 17 clinical

departments, 5 basic science departments, and 7 centers. In

addition, there are over a dozen related centers that form part of

the University of Arizona’s Health Sciences, a statewide leader in

biomedical research and health professions training that also

include the College of Medicine - Phoenix, and Colleges of Nursing,

Pharmacy, and Public Health

Reporting directly

to the Dean of the University of Arizona’s College of Medicine –

Tucson, the Chair is charged with advancing the academic, clinical,

and research missions of the Department of Urology, serving as a

vital partner in framing the strategic direction for the University

of Arizona’s College of Medicine – Tucson and Banner Health. The

Department of Urology currently includes 5 core faculty members

including 1 PhD researcher, 7 APPs, and 15 residents in its

ACGME-accredited residency programs. The department is actively

engaged in activities across the tripartite mission, coupling

strong academic and clinical initiatives, research, education, and

clinical care, and is considered a vital local and regional leader

in urologic health programs. With outstanding support,

partnerships, and collaborations within both CoM-T and

Banner-University Medicine-Tucson (BUM-T), the next chair will have

the opportunity to boldly advance the department, building on a

strong foundation, taking it to the next level across all its

mission areas, thus impacting the lives of patients in Arizona and

beyond. It is an exciting time as the world-renowned urologic

oncologist, Dr. Dan Theodorescu, was recently named Director of the

Cancer Center at the University of Arizona (the only NCI-designated

comprehensive cancer center in the state).

The

University of Arizona’s College of Medicine – Tucson, seeks a

dynamic, accomplished, nationally recognized academic physician or

physician-scientist to continue the department's growth and

trajectory as a leader in medical education, research, and patient

care and service. The next Chair will be responsible for continuing

to enhance multidisciplinary clinical and research collaborations

across Banner Health and the university.

Applicants must be board-certified in urology, possess outstanding

leadership skills and administrative experience garnered in an

academic medical center setting, and possess a solid track record

of commitment to clinical care, education, service, and research.
