Job Title : Staff Pharmacist

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Staff Pharmacist to join our team in providing exceptional pharmaceutical care in a hospital setting. This role involves ensuring the safe and effective management and dispensing of medications, delivering clinical pharmacy services, maintaining safety and compliance, managing inventory and technology, and participating in educational and training initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify physician orders for appropriateness, accuracy, and potential drug interactions.
  • Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with hospital protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure proper labeling, storage, and handling of pharmaceuticals.
  • Provide drug information and therapeutic recommendations to medical staff.
  • Monitor patient responses to medications and adjust therapy as needed in collaboration with prescribers.
  • Participate in patient care rounds and interdisciplinary team meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and hospital regulations regarding medication use.
  • Participate in medication error prevention initiatives and adverse drug event reporting.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all pharmaceutical care activities.
  • Assist in inventory control, including ordering, receiving, and managing stock levels.
  • Utilize pharmacy information systems and automated dispensing technologies effectively.
  • Support formulary management and cost-containment strategies.
  • Educate patients and caregivers on medication regimens when appropriate.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to pharmacy technicians, interns, and residents.
  • Stay current with developments in pharmacy practice and participate in continuing education.

Essential Skills

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of practice.
  • 2+ years of hospital pharmacy experience.
  • Experience with Cerner and acute care settings.
  • Proficiency in the medication use process including selecting, prescribing, dispensing, administration, and monitoring of medications.
  • Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Residency training (PGY1 or PGY2) is a plus.
  • Therapeutic expertise.
  • Rph certification.
  • Work Environment

    This position involves working in an inpatient pharmacy at a hospital with a rotating schedule that includes central shifts from 7am to 5 : 30pm and second shifts from 11 : 30am to 10pm. Preference is given to candidates with weekend and holiday availability. The work schedule typically involves working 3-4 days on the same schedule followed by 1-3 days off before switching to the other schedule.     This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Prescott, Arizona.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $80.00 / hr.
